Where Are The Most Popular 55+ Active Adult Communities In North Texas?

Having been in the Dallas/Plano real estate markets full-time for over 32 years, after starting my professional career of service in my 20’s,  I can easily refer to myself now as a veteran or “seasoned” real estate pro. However, some real estate colleagues I know that have also been in the industry as long as I have or even longer, tell me they don’t advertise their total years of experience and instead choose to cap their tenure of real estate experience at around “25 years” so they are not thought of or referred to as seniors.  Although it is a common trait of many “Boomers” not to think of themselves as seniors, I personally don’t mind identifying myself as a working senior Realtor.

As both a member of the Baby Boomer Generation (those born between 1946 and 1964) and as a member of the Seniors Real Estate Specialist Council, I enjoy working with and representing consumers in the age 50 and older markets. Since I already have a great deal in common with this largest living generation of home sellers and home buyers, I find it easy for me to relate to and assist them in their real estate endeavors.

Many of my clients and friends in this age group prefer to refer to themselves as “active adults,”and want to live in the top 55+ active adult communities in North Texas. They are mostly interested in those communities that can offer them the best value for the types of housing, specialized activities and neighborhood amenities that cater to their lifestyle.  They frequently seek out a master-planned community that is age restricted to other 55+ residents that are near retirement, semi-retired or retired and look for communities that offer social activity opportunities to interact with other residents that have similar interests.

Some of the world class community features most frequently requested include tennis courts, indoor and outdoor Olympic pools, championship golf courses, state-of-the-art fitness centers, walking and biking trails, community ponds or lakes, learning centers, special classes, organized travel, hobbies and entertainment, and upscale clubhouses featuring lounges, grills and casual or fine dining.  In addition, energy efficient homes and yards that require minimal maintenance and communities where the main entrances are either guarded or gated are often high on their wish lists when shopping for a residence in these active adult retirement communities.   Proximity to a wide range of shopping and retail centers as well as the finest medical facilities and hospitals are also of major importance to this 55+ active adult group of home owners.

Here are four of the most popular 55+  active adult communities in the North DFW area, according to the feedback I have received from past clients that have cast their votes of approval for those they liked the best in recent years.  These four 55+ active adult communities are in the Town of Fairview, City of Frisco, City of Aubrey, and City of Denton, Texas.
